Camaraderie 050922
How the Glass Mosaic Camaraderie 050922 came to be.
May 1st is when my children's summer swim club season starts. I have always loved competitive swimming and enjoy everything about the sport. S the enthusiasm of the new season, I wanted to create a mosaic with the idea of team spirit in mind.
After researching online for a photo, I thought this one from the Golden Dolphins Swim Club was exactly the friendship and camaraderie I was looking for in an image. I loved the colours, the outdoor pool, and the photo's perspective.
Pulling colours from my glass stash was immensely rewarding. I love the way the light reflects off of the water. Playing with blues, purples, and soft yellows was a rewarding colour combination.
I have recently been focusing on keeping glass pieces as tight as possible. I like to have small grout lines in some areas and more prominent lines for contrast and to direct the eye.
This image is a close-up before I grout.
Framing Decisions
I was having issues creating a wood frame for this mosaic. After a while, my impatience kicked in, and I decided to try something new.
I had these glass tiles and was looking for the right reason to use them. I thought the colour and shape matched the piece's theme and would create a different effect.
